Sepp Blatter as FIFA president Elected Back


Sepp Blatter re-elected as FIFA president after being the only remaining candidate in the election laden with accusations of corruption.

75-year-old Swiss was serving for the fourth period on Wednesday after receiving 186 of 203 votes at FIFA Congress in Zurich. The only rival Blatter, the Asian Football Confederation president Mohamed bin Hammam, resigned Sunday amid allegations of bribery.

Wednesday morning, Blatter promised to radically reform the way the selection of the host countries of the World Cup. He promised to-208 members of FIFA will be allowed to choose the location of the tournament which takes place every four years it.

Currently, 24 members of FIFA's executive committee chose the World Cup host. The method was widely criticized when Russia was chosen as World Cup hosts Qatar hosted the 2018 and 2022.

FIFA presidential elections occur despite efforts by the English Football Association (FA) to force a postponement to allow time to clean corruption scandal. British step was defeated by a very large ratio.
